Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of the Think Talk Write learning model which has never been applied in the Indonesian language learning process at SDN Mangun Jaya 02, students' descriptive essay writing skills have not been maximized because the implementation of the learning model used by teachers has not been varied. This research aims to see the influence of the Think Talk Write learning model on the descriptive essay writing skills of class IV students at SDN Mangun Jaya 02. This research is a type of Quasi Experimental Design research with a Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample used was Class IV C with 38 students as the experimental class and Class IV B with 38 students as the control class. Data collection techniques use performance tests. The results showed that the average pre-test score for the experimental class was 64.04 and the post-test was 76.43, while the average pre-test score for the control class was 58.55 and the post-test was 69.74, meaning that for the experimental class experienced an increase of 12.39, while the control class experienced an increase of 11.19. The results of hypothesis testing using the t-test were obtained at (2.103 > 2.024) at the significance level α = 0.05. Therefore tcount > ttable then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence on the Think Talk Write (TTW) Learning Model on the Description Essay Writing Skills of Class IV Students at SDN Mangun Jaya 02.
