Abstract

This research is based on the problem of low critical thinking skills in science learning in elementary school students. When teaching and learning activities students still tend to be passive and have not been able to formulate/solve the problem to be solved. Because students consider science is a difficult lesson to make students less understanding of the lesson, therefore the critical thinking ability of students to be low. This study aims to examine the Discovery Learning Model as a solution in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in science learning. The research method used in this study is Systematic Litelature Review (SLR), this study was conducted by collecting data in the form of problem identification, data search, screening, extraction and review. Derived from the Google scholar database in accordance with the X and Y variables of the discovery Learning Model and critical thinking skills in Science Learning with school student subjects, research journals are published in the last 6 years (2018-2024) and data sources only come from scientific articles in journals. Based on the analysis of 14 journals used in the study there are 8 journals using Class Action Research Methods (PTK) and 6 journals with experimental methods. This shows the lowest percentage of PTK method is 13% and the highest percentage reaches 100%. In the experimental method the lowest data in the pretest average value of 54.88 and the highest in the posttest 86.90. This shows that the Discovery Learning model can improve the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in science learning.
