Abstract

ASTM A53 Standard Pipe Steel Pipe ordered under this specification is intended for mechanical and pressure applications and is also acceptable for ordinary use in steam, water, gas, and air lines. The aim of this research is to determine the impact value of ASTM A53 material after welding with different Weave Beads using the SMAW destructive test method and what type of Weave Bead is ideal for welding ASTM A53 material using the SMAW destructive test method. The results of the analysis show that the absorbed energy value in the impact test shows that the ASTM A53 material when the SMAW welding process is carried out in each welding stroke will show different absorbed energy. The impact test on the specimen with a straight welding swing obtained an absorbed energy value of 76 j. The impact test on the specimen with zigzag welding swings obtained an energy absorbed value of 131 j. The impact test on the specimen with circular welding swings obtained an absorbed energy value of 50 j.
