Abstract

Plastic is one type of polymer whose basic ingredients are generally PET (Poly Ethylene Terephthalate), HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene), PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride), LDPE (Low Density Poly Ethylene), PP (PolyPropylene), PS (PolyStryene). ), and Other Types. Plastics are polymer compounds formed from the polymerization of small molecules (monomers) of hydrocarbons. The use of plastic waste as a material to produce fuel oil is an alternative that can increase the economic value of plastic waste, besides that it can also solve one of the environmental problems. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of fuel oil produced from plastic waste type PP (PolyPropylene) with the pyrolysis process. The research methodology variables include; the pyrolysis time was 120 minutes and the pyrolysis temperatures were 390̊C, 410̊C, 430̊C, and 450̊C. The test of the pyrolysis oil is based on the flash point. Furthermore, the calculation of the reaction kinetics using the Arrhenius equation method. The optimum temperature for PP plastic pyrolysis is at a temperature of 450°C with a yield of 59.3%. The value of the reaction rate constant (k) obtained is 7.3 x 109 .e (117,013/R.T).
