Abstract
Novaldi Fadil Mu’afa. 41182911200072. HISTORY OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN INDONESIA BEFORE INDEPENDENCE AND ITS URGENCY FOR ISLAMIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TODAY. Bekasi Thesis : Islamic Religious Education Studi Program, Islamic University 45 Bekasi. This research formulates the problem, what is the history of Islamic education in Indonesia and what is the urgency of this history for Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia at this time. The purpose of this problem is to find out the history of Islamic education in Indonesia and the urgency of this history for Islamic educational institutions today. The results of the discussion "The History of Islamic Education in Indonesia Before Independence and Its Urgency for Current Islamic Education Institutions" the author presents several conclusions including; First, the legacy of Islamic boarding schools and madrasas: Traditional Islamic education represented by Islamic boarding schools and madrasas plays an important role in forming the foundation of Islamic education in Indonesia. This system has produced many clerics and scholars who have contributed to the development of religion, science and society. Second, the Influence of Colonialism: Despite facing various challenges during colonialism, Islamic educational institutions still strive to maintain Islamic identity and teachings. This struggle fostered a spirit of independence and the revival of Islamic education in Indonesia. Third, the Role of Ulama and Islamic Organizations: Ulama and Islamic organizations such as Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama play a major role in developing more modern and structured Islamic education. They introduced a curriculum that combines religious knowledge and general knowledge, thus providing a more comprehensive foundation for the younger generation of Muslims.
