Abstract
This research analyzes the representation of female detectives in the films Enola Holmes 1 and 2 using Stuart Hall's theory of representation. The primary focus is on how Enola Holmes and other women are depicted in the context of feminism and gender issues. This study explores Enola's character as a female detective, the methods she uses to solve cases, and the social class differences between Enola and other female characters. Additionally, it discusses gender issues highlighted in the films, such as the injustices faced by female factory workers, educational inequality, rigid dress codes, and the movements for Women's Suffrage and Women's Equal Rights. Through media analysis, this research finds that the films present representations of women who fight against discrimination and social injustice in the 19th century Victorian era.
