Abstract

This study aims to examine and determine the application of the sociodrama method to speaking skills in Indonesian subjects for elementary school students. Based on journal study materials, there are several problems with low speaking skills in students, namely difficulties in choosing words in good and correct Indonesian, students find it difficult to express their thoughts or opinions, and students are not confident to speak in front of the class. These problems can be overcome by using the sociodrama learning method by linking materials that teach drama playing so as to encourage students' courage in speaking skills. The research method used in this study is Systematic Literature Review, this research was conducted by collecting data using research journals related to the research variables needed. The data used in this study are sources from journals that have the following inclusion criteria; journals for the last 10 years (2012-2022), journals for Indonesian subjects, journals for Elementary School level, Indonesian language journals, sociodrama method journals, and speaking skills journals. Based on the analysis of 12 journal study materials using the application of the sociodrama method can improve students' speaking skills because students are involved in the learning process directly to play a drama so as to encourage students' courage to speak in front of the class and students can express their opinions or ideas in speaking skills. Thus, the author can recommend the use of the application of the sociodrama method with the aid of audio-visual media so that the material to be delivered is easier for elementary school students to understand.
