Abstract

The bending process is a bending or bending process. The forces that occur in the bending process are in opposite directions, just like the cutting process. Based on the pipe's use, various kinds of problems will be found, such as: fatigue, corrosion and cracks. Of the three types commonly experienced by pipes, cracks are a problem that is of great concern because the subsequent effects of these cracks can result in several losses both in terms of material and function. This research aims to determine the effect of temperature variations in the bending process using ASTMB280 copper pipe material on the quality of the bending results. The material used in this research is ASTMB280 copper pipe material with a size of 1 inch and a thickness of 1.5 mm, which is a metal with atomic number 29, atomic mass 63,546, melting point 1083 °C, boiling point 2310 °C, atomic radius 1,173 A° and Cu2+ ion radius 0.96 A°. The variations in this research use temperature variations of 200℃, 300℃, and 400℃ and without hot working. This research uses a bending process with pipes that have gone through a hot working process with temperature variations and then bent 90°. For the results, in copper pipes without hot working, a taper occurs with a taper value of 0.36 mm. In copper pipes at a temperature of 200℃, a taper occurs with a taper value of 1.3 mm. In copper pipes with a temperature of 300℃, a taper occurs with a taper value of 1.55 mm. And in copper pipes with a temperature of 400℃, a taper occurs with a taper value of 5.31 mm. From the research results obtained on the bending process on Copper Pipes through a hot working process and without a process without treatment for comparison so that without hot working and a temperature of 200℃ is also the optimal temperature for changes in taper.
