Abstract

A lathe is a machine device that has an important role in the manufacturing process. Its function is to remove unwanted material from the rotating workpiece, producing small debris called chips. This process is carried out with the help of a cutting tool that penetrates the workpiece and can be moved with precision into the workpiece. In the industrial world, the lathe is considered one of the most versatile machine tools and is often used widely throughout the world. Today's industry has developed in a direction that requires doing work more quickly and efficiently using various types of machines. One of these machines is a lathe which functions to process cylindrical materials. The main objective of this research is to determine the effect of machine vibrations and determine the value of lathe rotation due to variations in machine rotation, cutting speed and feed depth in the AISI 1045 steel flat turning process. This research is an experimental research using material with a diameter of 20 mm and a length of 100 mm. 3 kinds of engine rotation variations, feed speed. The results of this research can be concluded that the engine rotation speed of 290 Rpm with a feed speed of 0.5 mm produces the lowest vibration of 0.23 mm/s.
