Abstract
Online games are games that use the medium of the internet to allow players from different locations to play the same game simultaneously and at the same time. However, if playing online games for too long will cause addiction. This study aims to determine how the form of interpersonal communication patterns of parents to children who are addicted to playing online games. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that children can be categorized as addicted to online games if they have played for more than 5 hours. When playing online games, children will only focus on their games and can forget everything in their lives. The impact of online game addiction includes five aspects, namely health aspects, psychological aspects, academic aspects, social aspects, and financial aspects. In this case, there are still many parents who do not care about children who have experienced addiction to playing online games. Parents seem confused in finding solutions for their children who are addicted to playing online games. To overcome the problem of online game addiction, good communication patterns are needed with children, namely through parenting given by parents. There are four forms of parenting, namely authoritarian parenting, permissive parenting, ignorant parenting and democratic parenting.
