Abstract

Field study of science is one field of study is considered less desirable and difficult to learn. This is evidenced by the results of studying these subjects are low. The difficulty can be due to teachers and textbooks. Written textbook does not consider aspects of developmental psychology, the limitations of teaching styles and intelligences that determine the effectiveness of student learning. The presence of textbooks to teachers as well influence the way of explaining the material covered in each learning activity. By using qualitative research methods of science textbooks for grade IV elementary schools in three aspects of the textbook is the cause of learning difficulties in science. 1) Using subject matter many foreign terms, 2) material and impressed a lot of solid, 3) tend to be much memory. From this research, teachers are expected to consider: first, study materials science as a subject in its own right, but it taught systematically. Second, aspects of scientific work. Third, the use-oriented approach to the students. Kata kunci: kesulitan belajar, istilah asing, padat dan cenderung menghafal.
