Abstract

This Research aims to know the shape of the abbreviation pattern used by social media users on twitter using the hashtag #JKRowling and explaining the definition of the found abbreviations and placing context dependent on the use of those abbreviations. The study used the abbreviation theory of bas aarts to place an abbreviated pattern of formation according to the type. By undertaking qualitative research methods, the main purpose of the study is to find meaning and to dissect established abbreviations based on the predetermined hashtag. And also create a percentage for knowing the acronym pattern that is often used by social media users on twitter. This is evidenced by research found using the hashtag #JKRowling and produce abbreviations associated with transgender, disease name, movie titles or Japan anime, people's initials, abbreviation in the name of country.
