Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is a world health crisis that can have an impact on the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. The impact given to Islamic commercial banks is the emergence of several risks, such as the risk of financing in the business and non-business sectors. This study aims to compare the non-performing financing of the business and non-business sectors in the face of the pandemic, so that it can be seen from the non-performing financing sectors that are more resilient in the face of the pandemic. In addition, this study aims to predict the level of non-performing financing in the business and non-business sectors in the future and to find out the managerial implications of this research, especially the non-performing financing of the two sectors in the face of a pandemic. The research method used is quantitative with the type of research being comparative. The object of this research is Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia and the data collection technique used is a documentation study by collecting monthly statistical reports on Islamic commercial banks for the period September 2018 to August 2021. Hypothesis testing in this study used parametric test with paired sample t-test and non-parametric test with wilcoxon signed rank test. In addition, to predict the level of non-performing financing in the future using forecasting analysis with the least square method. The results of this study indicate that there is no difference in the non- performing financing of the business sector between before and during the pandemic and the non-business sector between before and during the pandemic, so it can be seen that the two non-performing financing sectors can survive the pandemic. Furthermore, the level of business and non-business sector non-performing financing is predicted to experience a downward trend in the period September 2021 to December 2025. The managerial implications in this study, especially the non- performing financing in both sectors in the face of the pandemic, can be well controlled by Islamic commercial banks. However, Islamic commercial banks need to maintain the level of non-performing financing in the safe category by anticipating and preventing an increase in non-performing financing in both sectors in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and other possible crises, although it is estimated that the two non-performing financing sectors will experience a downward trend in the future.
