Abstract

ABSTRAK Komposisi carbon material ST 37 yang rendah ditreatment dengan variasi temperature Hardening process 790⁰C, 830⁰C dan 870⁰C dengan tujuan untuk melihat responsivitas material terhadap terbentuknya martensite. Pengujian kekerasan Vickers dan struktur Mikro dilakukan untuk mendapatkan nilai kekerasan dan struktur mikro yang terjadi setelah proses hardening. Nilai kekerasan rata rata temperature hardening 790⁰C sebesar 147,8 HV, sedangkan temperature 830⁰C sebesar 141,6 HV terakhir dengan temperature 870⁰C didapat 140,5 HV. Variasi Temperatur hardening ternyata relative tidak mengubah nilai kekerasan , bahkan masih lebih rendah dibandingkan rata rata kekerasan Raw Material sebesar 198,9 HV. Struktur mikro yang didapat dengan variasi temperature hardening baik 790⁰C, 830⁰C maupun 870⁰C ternyata mengindikasikan struktur ferrit dan pearlite, sama dengan struktur mikro raw material ST 37 . Key Word: Material ST 37, Hardening, Hardness, struktur Mikro abstract The low carbon composition of the ST 37 material was treated with variations in the Hardening process temperature of 790⁰C, 830⁰C and 870⁰C in order to see the responsiveness of the material to the formation of martensite. Vickers hardness and microstructure testing were carried out to obtain the hardness and microstructure values that occurred after the hardening process. The average hardness value of 790⁰C temperature hardening is 147.8 HV, while the last 830⁰C temperature is 141.6 HV with a temperature of 870⁰C obtained 140.5 HV. The variation of hardening temperature did not change the hardness value, even lower than the average raw material hardness of 198.9 HV. The microstructure obtained by varying the hardening temperature, both 790⁰C, 830⁰C and 870⁰C, turned out to indicate the structure of ferrite and pearlite, the same as the microstructure of raw material ST 37 .
