Abstract

Slang is a variation of language used by certain groups which are very limited. This research is a qualitative research that is descriptive in nature. preparation and presentation of informant data. The next stage is the recording stage. At this stage the data found during observation and listening to the research subjects were recorded. After that it was entered for analysis. Furthermore, apart from recording, the recording stage (screenshot) is also used in the comments account. To answer the questions, the researcher used 3 data analysis techniques, namely data reduction and data presentation. And data verification. The theory used when analyzing word formation is Yule's theory (1950) and Partidge's theory (1979) is used to find out the reasons for using slang. The results of the discussion show that the use of gamer slang in the PUBG community on Instagram has several variants, namely compounding, acronym, backformation, blending, derivation, borrowing, coinage, conversion. In addition, the use of gamer slang is caused by 5 factors, namely to look different, only as jokes, ease of social relations, showing part of a certain group and proving other people are not his group.
