Abstract
ABSTACT Syahriddin, NPM. 41182941160025: THE TRADITION OF MAHAR MARRIAGE (IVORY) IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF LAW AND SOCIAL IMPACT (Case Study of Duwanur Village West Adonara District East Flores Regency NTT Province) Essay. In customary law, marriage is an act that is not only mundane, but spiritual and religious in nature, the purpose of marriage according to customary law in general is to maintain and continue the survival and life of its indigenous peoples. When getting married, there are traditions that are carried out by every existing tribe, one of which is customary traditions in every marriage as customary and marriage traditions in the adat of the Lamaholot tribe, Duwanur village, West Adonara sub-district, East Flores regency, in the form of Gading/Belis as a dowry. wedding companion. In this study, the type of research is Socio Legal Research or field research conducted by interview, this research aims to study intensively about the background and current situation, and environmental interactions of a social unit: individuals, groups, institutions and society. addressed directly to the location to be studied, namely Duwanur Village, West Adonara District. The research method used is a qualitative method where this research produces descriptive data. This study seeks to describe systematically and factually regarding the review of Islamic law on the offerings in the Lamaholot custom based on the data collected during the research and set forth in the form of a report or description. The results of the study, Gading/Belis is one of the traditional traditions that have become commonplace for the people of Lamaholot Adonara, this tradition in marriage is considered as a must to do and cannot be left at every wedding event. As happened in Duwanur Village. According to a review of Islamic law, the dowry companion (Gading) in Duwanur Village is allowed to be carried out as long as there is no deviation from Islamic teachings. Ivory as a companion for a marriage dowry is a custom or custom which in Islam is included in the urf 'which is not stipulated by law and there is no argument that prohibits or obliges it, but the customary practice is carried out by the community repeatedly.
