Abstract

In general, fiber is divided into two types, namely synthetic fiber and natural fiber. A common type of fiber used in the manufacture of polymer composites is synthetic fibers such as fiberglass. Composite is a material formed from a combination of two or more materials whose mechanical properties of the forming material are different, where one material as a filler (matrix) and another as a reinforcement phase (reinforcement). The methodology used in this study used three ingredients, namely rice straw fiber, pineapple leaf fiber and coconut fibers. This test uses an impact test to determine the strength of the composite. From the test results that have been carried out, it was found that pineapple leaf fiber got the highest impact strength value with a value of 8,339 Kj / m2 , while the value of coconut fiber fiber was 1,843 Kj / m2 , and the lowest value in rice straw fiber was 1,335 Kj / m2 .
