Abstract

Expansive soil has the characteristic of expanding if the water content increases, besides that this soil will shrink and crack on the surface as the water content decreases. Indonesia is an area with a tropical climate with very dominant rainy and dry seasons, thus affecting the characteristics of widely distributed clay soils. Changes in weather result in repeated wet-dry cycles so the soil will experience changes in soil volume due to changes in water content and a decrease in other factors. factors supporting soil parameters. This study uses several samples and test objects that aim to compare the results obtained so that it becomes an innovation. The test object used in this study was expansive soil mixed with Fly Ash (FA) and Waste Dry Dust Collection (WDDC) with a mixed variety of 3% for each test of GS, Atterberg Limit, compaction, CBR, UCS, and Swelling in the wet cycle. -dry. Where the process of cycle 1 is carried out by soaking the test object for 2 days and then in an oven at 40º C for 5 hours and cycle 2 is 1 repetition of cycle 1. At 2.5 mm CBR and 5 mm CBR the pattern of cycle changes is not much different, it can be concluded that the cycle change does not affect the change in CBR numbers. In the swelling test after entering cycle 2, the swelling value of both the original soil and the soil that was repaired with addictively averaged has not experienced development, the more the cycle repeats, the smaller the potential for development. For testing the average free compressive strength (qu) after entering cycle 1 and cycle 2, the value of the free compressive strength (qu) increased from non-cycle conditions, but the cycle changes did not significantly affect the change in the value of the free compressive strength (qu) in the original soil. fixed addictive material. Keywords: Expansive Soil, Wet Dry Cycle, Flay Ash, Waste Dry Dust Collector
