Abstract
This study aims to analyze the tradition of giving dowry for marriage in Muslim communities in Southeast Asia. The amount and what factors determine the value of the dowry in marriage. This research is a Systematic Literature Review study. Various studies are selected according to their suitability with certain standards and their relevance to the formulation of the research problem, which then becomes the basis for doing literature inclusion and exclusion. The results showed that the dowry is a wife's right in marriage that must be given, while the amount given is not regulated in Islamic law, but in the tradition of giving dowry is usually influenced by heredity, education, and beauty. This happens not only in Indonesia but also in countries in Southeast Asia.
