Abstract

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF SPINDLE VELOCATION VARIATION ON JOINT QUALITY USING ALUMINUM AND COPPER MATERIALS USING ALUMINUM AND COPPER In the world of metal industry, materials in the form of solid cylinders are much needed. It is still difficult to join solid cylindrical materials with fusion welding. Difficulties in making these connections can be overcome by welding Rotary Friction Welding (RFW). This RFW can also be carried out using the available lathe by determining the proper welding parameters in order to get the best results. But now the machine for RFW has been developed, as in this research the machine used is the RFW machine belonging to the Akpelni Earth Polytechnic which has been developed. In this research, the material used was Aluminum 6061 versus Cu Copper with welding parameters, namely the rotational speed of the RFW machine spindle, namely 1000 RPM, 1200 RPM and 1420 RPM and the pressing time was 10 seconds. The shape of the connection profile in the study uses the shape of the cover (shock) connection profile. The results of welding are subjected to tensile testing to be able to analyze the maximum tensile strength that occurs. From the results of macro metallographic observations, the results of the connection show that it has been well connected. Micro metallographic testing showed structural changes from a given spindle speed variation, the most visible structural changes occurred at a speed of 1200 Rpm. Then from the results of the tensile test, the maximum tensile stress is 4999 Kg/mm2 and the Tensile strength value is 13.13 N/mm2.
