Abstract

Welding strength is very influential on the quality of the welded joints and the requirements of a standard construction especially in the oil and gas industry such as piping. This study aims to determine how much corrosion resistance and how much influence the use of borax and without borax has on corrosion resistance by using the SST (Salt Spray Test) test and copper pipe welding joints. BRASCO Ø3/4 inch x 1.07 mm ASTM B819 Medical Type-L. By using the oxy acetylene welding process and using a neutral flame. The borax used was silver brazing flux and the filler used was harris 0 silver brazing and the welding position used was 1G. The cooling used uses ambient air. From the test results of the SST (Salt Spray Test) the percentage of rust on the raw material specimen is 22%, Welded joint specimens without borax 7% percentage of rust, as well as specimens of welded joints with borax are 16% percentage of rust, For this reason, the effectiveness of the SST test values ​​for welded joints with borax is only 16% percentage of rust. and without borax only 7% percentage of rust.
