Abstract
ABSTRACT: The research aims to determine the relationship between forearm muscle power and hand-eye coordination on the speed of gyaku tsuki chudan punches in karate among students participating in extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 166 Jakarta. The research method used is descriptive, with a sample of 15 students participating in karate extracurricular at SMP Negeri 166 Jakarta. The results show that there is a significant partial correlation between hand-eye coordination and the speed of gyaku tsuki chudan punches in karate with a correlation value of 0.733, t-value of 2.61, and p-value of 0.022 at a significance level of 5%. There is also a significant partial correlation between forearm muscle power and the speed of gyaku tsuki chudan punches with a correlation value of 0.733, t-value of 3.18, and p-value of 0.008 at a significance level of 1%. Additionally, a significant linear relationship is observed between forearm muscle power, hand-eye coordination, and the speed of gyaku tsuki chudan punches, with a correlation value of 0.807, F-value of 11.2, and p-value of 0.002 at a significance level of 1%. The coefficient of determination (R2) indicates that 65.2% of the speed changes in gyaku tsuki chudan punches among students participating in extracurricular karate activities at SMP Negeri 166 Jakarta are influenced by forearm muscle power and hand-eye coordination. The remaining percentage is affected by other independent variables not mentioned in this research model. Keywords: Forearm muscle power, hand-eye coordination, gyaku tsuki chudan, karate.
