Abstract

In the healthcare world, the intravenous fluid infusion process has become a crucial method for patient recovery. However, monitoring and replacing infusion bottles have become challenging for hospitals due to limited medical personnel and time constraints. Currently, infusion bottle control is still done manually, which may pose risks such as delayed handling when the infusion bottle is empty and the risk of blood clot formation. Therefore, the utilization of technology is required to address these issues. This research aims to design and create a real-time Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring and alert device for patient infusion bottle conditions, specifically related to volume, using a website. The research employed data collection through literature studies, system design, device assembly, and system testing. The results obtained from this research include an infusion stand equipped with Load cell sensors and a website application capable of monitoring patient infusion bottles from the nurse's station. The conclusion drawn is that the comparison result between the sensors and digital scales showed an error percentage of 0.11% for Load cell A and 0.14% for Load cell B. Furthermore, the average measurement tolerance at different infusion flow rates showed variations. At a slow infusion flow rate, the average tolerance for infusion A was -0.04%, while for infusion B was -0.06%. At a moderate infusion flow rate, the average tolerance for infusion A was -0.12%, and for infusion B was -0.07%. At a fast infusion flow rate, the average tolerance for infusion A was -0.19%, and for infusion B was -0.04%.
