Abstract

The recent global warming has caused the change of seasons. Unstable seasons make weather forecasts difficult to predict. This condition is a problem for people who are drying clothes, especially when the occupants of the house are traveling and then the weather becomes bad or it rains. In overcoming this problem, this study aims to design an IoT-based automatic clothesline device that is able to control the roof and fans on the clothesline based on the level of light brightness, water droplets and humidity levels. The methods used in this research are tool design, tool assembly and tool testing. The results of this study, have successfully designed a prototype tool for automatic clothesline and can monitor sensors using the Blynk application. The conclusion in this research tool uses three conditions, namely rain, cloudy and humid. The sensors used to detect these three conditions are Raindrop sensors, LDR sensors and DHT11 sensors. This tool can work by opening the roof, closing the roof, turning on the fan and turning off the fan. The mechanical components use a servo motor and a 5V DC fan. Testing on the servo motor when opening the clothesline roof takes 0.96 seconds and when closing the clothesline roof takes 1.01 seconds, then testing the DC fan when it is on takes 0.81 seconds and when the fan is off it takes 0.83 seconds. Based on the error value obtained on the DHT11 sensor component, it gets the lowest error value of 12.85% and with the largest error value of 17.39%.
