Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of PAI learning strategies for mentally retarded children (Descriptive Study at Bekasi Jaya State Special School). This type of research is qualitative research, namely research that seeks to provide a systematic format of actual facts. Collecting data from this study using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. This study answers how the implementation of PAI learning strategies is used for mentally retarded students, and what are the inhibiting factors and supporting factors in the implementation of PAI learning for mentally retarded children at Bekasi Jaya State SLB. The results of the study showed that the implementation of PAI learning strategies for students at the Bekasi Jaya State SLB was going well because they used the 2013 curriculum, in the learning process using several methods, models of approaches, and learning strategies. The method used is the lecture method, demonstration method, question and answer method. The strategy used is a fun strategy by playing, singing, telling stories. The obstacles in the implementation of the learning itself are divided into two, namely obstacles from within the classroom, and outside the classroom. There are also supporting factors that support the success of the learning process, which can come from students, teachers, and parents. The results of this study are expected that the PAI learning process for mentally retarded students does not only use fun strategies. However, you can add other strategies that are more fun and can stimulate and motivate students to remain active in learning and not get bored easily.
