Abstract
Education is a tool to improve the nation's standard of living. Basically, education is an effort to improve the quality of human resources (HR). One of the ways in which education can be taken is at school, from several subjects studied by students, mathematics is one of the most important sciences in the world of education. This study uses a qualitative approach and the data analysis process places more emphasis on concluding a comparison of literature reviews from several scientific journals. The results showed that using the Problem Based Learning model can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities, besides that it can involve students in active groups in understanding problems, planning problems, solving problems, and looking back at problems. Thus it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model can be used as a solution to improve the mathematical problem solving ability of elementary school students.
