Abstract
One of the anxieties experienced by final-year students is about their careers. Self-regulation and optimism can help students to be more confident about their future careers. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-regulation and career anxiety, the relationship between optimism and career anxiety, and the effect of self-regulation and optimism on career anxiety in final-year students. The subjects of this study were 314 students from 17 study programs at Universitas Islam 45. This study used interviews and a career anxiety scale (r alpha = 0.874), self-regulation scale (r alpha = 0.871), and optimism scale (r alpha = 0.888) as data collection methods. Data were analyzed with Pearson Product Moment correlation and multiple regression. The study found that there is a significant negative relationship between self-regulation and career anxiety (r = -0.571, p < 0.001); there is a significant negative relationship between optimism and career anxiety (r = -0.601, p < 0.001); self-regulation and optimism together can reduce career anxiety (F = 252.670, p < 0.001) by 61.9%.
