Abstract

Type 316 L Stainless Steel is often found in dual heat dissipation applications, smelting furnace components, heat exchange components, jet engine components, pharmaceutical equipment, pump components, chemical processing equipment, tanks, evaporators, and a wide variety of components exposed to water in the marine environment. . Such a high requirement for the quality of the welding results of this material product is very important, so it is necessary to carry out an in-depth study to get the product as expected. Welding of 316 L Stainless Steel Pipe with a diameter of 20 mm and a thickness of 3.91 mm is carried out by the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process, Filler Metal Type 308 L with a diameter of 1.5 L is used, Welding parameters are selected and specified in the Welding Procedure Specification Sheet ( WPS), and the Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) was evaluated. Welding quality testing was carried out with dye penetrant for non destructive tests followed by testing the tensile strength of welds, for destructive tests, dye penetrant results did not indicate any weld defects were found, and the tensile test yielded 683.8 MPa on specimens 1 and 665. ,8 MPa in specimen 2 and 656.9 MPa, so the average tensile strength value is 669.8 MPa. And all tensile test specimens fracture on the base metal. The results of the dye Penetran and Tensile Strength test show that the welding parameters in the WPS are standard and can meet the requirements.
