Abstract

The use of plastic in people's lives is very broad. This is because plastic has many advantages over other materials. This study aims to determine the effect of adding 400°C pyrolyzed PVC (polyvinyl chloride) oil to pertalite fuel on torque and power on motorbikes. This research is using experimental method. Tests were carried out on Honda Beat 2011 110cc motorbikes with 5 test groups namely pure pertalite, pertalite 90% PVC 10%, pertalite 95% PVC 5%, pertalite 90% PVC 10% and eco racing, pertalite 95% PVC 5% and eco racing . The results showed that there was an effect of a mixture of pyrolysis PVC 400°C oil and eco racing immersion in pertalite fuel on torque, power, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. Tests on torque and power at the start of the 4500 rpm engine speed with a mixture of 400°C PVC pyrolysis oil and eco racing immersion got the highest score, while at the next engine speed it gradually decreased. The use of B90PVC10E fuel has more effectiveness in increasing torque and power at the start of the engine rotation, namely a torque of 10.72 Nm and a power of 6.8 HP, compared to other fuels. For efficiency, the most efficient use of B95PVC5E fuel is 36.8%. In the study of exhaust emissions, a mixture of pyrolysis PVC 400°C oil and eco racing immersion on pertalite fuel has passed the hydrocarbon emission threshold (2000 ppm), but has not passed the carbon monoxide emission threshold (4.5%). The use of B100 fuel has the highest carbon monoxide emission, which is 1124 ppm, while the use of B95PVC5 fuel has the highest carbon monoxide emission, which is 6.31%.
