Abstract

In everyday life, a tire patch is needed to provide a temporary solution if there is a flat tire besides having to buy a new tire. The current condition is still many workshops that use conventional tire patching tools which, if viewed from a process perspective, takes quite a long time. For this reason, an electric tire patch was made to make it easier and speed up the patching time. To determine the performance of an electric tire patch, an experiment was carried out on the tire patching process. The method used was experimental, namely testing the electric tire patch 3 times. Parameters observed in this study included the temperature of the heater, heating plate, and tires. The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of heat transfer, the yield and quality of the filling, the electrical power used and the cost. Based on the results of calculating the data obtained from 3 experiments, the highest heat transfer rate is 1.114,68 kJ at a patching time of 3 minutes 30 seconds, while the lowest heat transfer rate value is 477,72 kJ at a patching time of 1 minute 30 seconds. The best results and quality of the patch was at 3 minutes 30 seconds where the patch seemed to blend perfectly with the inner tube. In one time carrying out tire patching activities, it requires an electric power of 0.0175 kWh, and costs Rp. 23,66. Keywords : Electric tire patch, heat transfer, electric power.
