Abstract

This study aims to discuss how the process of localized English variation causes cross-linguistic influence and to analyze the impact of these variations on users of the HP Bekasi Facebook buying and selling forum on communication between sellers and buyers. This research will be related to the cross-language influence that occurs in writing on Facebook social media through phonological and morphological approaches. It will also examine whether variations in English writing can have an impact on communication between sellers and buyers. There are 30 data collected from the HP buying and selling forum group on Facebook. Data processing using qualitative methods. As a result, from 30 data collected, the process of cross-linguistic influence occurs because users write a word rely on what they hear. Another finding shows that although there are variations in English on social media Facebook, no impact was found from the occurrence of these variations in English.
